By Elias Alias, 2015

This latest version of the selected excerpts from Alfred McCoy’s masterpiece on the CIA’s dope dealing escapades is more complete than previous postings. I have typed in passages from pages 461-472 in Alfred W. McCoy’s bombshell book, “The Politics of Heroin: CIA Complicity In The Drug Trade“, (1991; first edition 1972.)

At 4:00 a.m. on January 27, 1980, a state police officer patrolling a country road west of Sydney, Australia, noticed a late-model Mercedes sedan parked by the side of the road and stopped to examine it. Inside the constable found the body of a middle-aged male slumped forward, still holding the rifle he had apparently used […] Searching his wallet, the police found personal identification for one Frank Nugan, a merchant banker of Sydney, and a calling card from one William Colby, a New York lawyer who had recently retired as director of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency.

The circumstances of Nugan’s [death] and the bank’s spectacular collapse only six months later have inspired hundreds of press probes, three major Australian government investigations, and a lengthy (more…)

By John Simkin, 1997 (updated 2014)

In 1973 Frank Nugan, an Australian lawyer, and Michael Hand, a former CIA contract operative, established the Nugan Hand Bank. Another key figure in this venture was Bernie Houghton, who was closely connected to CIA officials, Ted Shackley and Thomas G. Clines.

Nugan ran operations in Sydney whereas Hand established a branch in Hong Kong. This enabled Australian depositors to access a money-laundering facility for illegal transfers of Australian money to Hong Kong. According to Alfred W. McCoy, the “Hand-Houghton partnership led the bank’s international division into new fields – drug finance, arms trading, and support work for CIA covert operations.” Hand (more…)

Project Censored, 2015

An American spy story with more intrigue than James Bond’s best has been unraveling in Australia since 1975 but yet has to grab the attention of our press. While the story is more complex than the proverbial can of worms, it involves:

— CIA involvement in the overthrow of an Australian Prime Minister, Gough Whitlam, representative of the Labor Party;

— Pine Gap, a U.S. satellite and communications base in Australia, said to be our single most important installation for monitoring the Soviet Union and Asia’; Prime Minister Whitlam was trying to shut Pine Gap down when he was ousted; (more…)

Amina Mohammed sworn-in as UN Deputy Sec-GenNigeria: Amina Mohammed to Assume Duty At UN
From The Guardian

Ms Amina Mohammed, the immediate past Minister of Environment, will be sworn-in on Tuesday as the UN Deputy Secretary-General at the UN Headquarters in New York, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Mohammed, who was appointed by the UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Dec. 15, 2016 as his deputy, was supposed to have assumed office on Jan. 1, 2017. She, however, delayed the assumption of her new role at the request of President Muhammadu Buhari to complete some ongoing responsibilities she was handling at that time.

Guterres had, while announcing Mohammed alongside two other women appointees, described them as “highly competent”.

“I am happy to count on the efforts of these three highly competent women, whom I have chosen for their strong backgrounds in global affairs, development, diplomacy, human rights and humanitarian action. (more…)

by Michael C. Ruppert, 2001

FBI/Justice Claims of Discontinued Use Leave Questions Unanswered
Britain and Germany in the Lurch?
Did bin Laden Use It To Break White House Codes And Threaten Air Force One?

An October 16 FOX News report by correspondent Carl Cameron indicating that convicted spy, former FBI Agent Robert Hanssen, had provided a highly secret computer software program called Promis to Russian organized crime figures – who in turn reportedly sold it to Osama bin Laden – may signal a potential intelligence disaster for the United States. Admissions by the FBI and Justice in the FOX story that they have discontinued use of the software are most certainly a legal disaster for a government that has been engaged in a 16-year battle with the software’s creator, William Hamilton, CEO of the Inslaw Corporation. Over those 16 years, in response to lawsuits filed by Hamilton charging that the government had stolen the software from Inslaw, the FBI, the CIA and the Department of Justice have denied, in court and under oath, ever using the software. “U.S. journalist Mike Ruppert, a former Los Angeles police officer who now runs a Web site that seeks to expose CIA covert operations, said he met with RCMP investigator McDade on Aug. 3 in L.A. Ruppert said the RCMP officer was anxious to see documents he received three years ago from a shadowy Green Beret named Bill Tyre [sic] detailing the sale of rigged Promis software to Canada.” – The Toronto Star, September 4, 2000.

Only the legends of Excalibur, the sword of invincible power, and the Holy Grail, the chalice from which Christ took his wine at the Last Supper begin to approach the mysterious aura that have evolved in the world of secret intelligence around a computer software program named Promis. Created in the 1970s by former National Security Agency (NSA) programmer and engineer Bill Hamilton, now President of Washington, D.C.’s Inslaw Corporation, PROMIS (Prosecutor’s Management Information System) (more…)

Related imageCOURAGE — David and Goliath in the Age of Internet News Reporting
by Michael C. Ruppert

A meritless New York libel suit, already thrown out of Mexican courts, is more than a mega-Goliath vs. defiant-David epic. It is also more than a case study of the brutality of unlimited criminal wealth tyrannizing unyielding truth. It is a story that, while clearly demonstrating the swelling power of Internet journalism, threatens to further erode and intimidate a not-so-free press at a time when any kind of diversity is instantly targeted for a “final solution.” At the heart of it all is a forty-something veteran journalist named Al Giordano, an iconoclast, bi-lingual, former Bostonian political-beat reporter who prefers a laptop, the Mexican heartland, tortillas and cerveza, along with the company of the “real people” of Latin America to the consumerized, pre-packaged, flavorless thought stream of gringos in the north.

What did Al do to deserve the leading role in a Bogartesque tragedy? Well, after cornering U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, Jeffrey Davidow with documentation of his role in aiding the brutal 1970s coup (more…)
